On the Road to Recovery

Dear Realtors and friends,

Thank you so much for your financial assistance to help offset the costs of traveling to Mayo Clinic. The work that you do through Realtors for Kids is wonderful. God bless you for touching so many lives and helping so many children who are in need.

Our Mayo visit was productive. The doctor gave my daughter a splint for left wrist in hopes that the wrist will begin to grow normally instead of growing inward as it has been doing since birth. Hopefully this will work, but if it doesn’t the doctor will perform surgery to correct the hand.

As for her thumb – which does not have a bone or muscle tissue – it is not going to be saved. However, later this year we will travel to Mayo again so the doctor can remove her thumb and make her index finger into a thumb. The doctor said she will use her index finger anyway, and this surgery will just make it easier for her to do that and will make the deformity much less noticeable than it is now. The outlook is good and when everything is said and done there is nothing that she won’t be able to do with her hand.

Overall things are looking good. My family is going to have to travel to Mayo two more times before our daughter’s hand is completely fixed, so we still have a long road ahead. Once again, thank you for your assistance and your prayers. They are greatly appreciated!
